When a family made a major international move from Florida to Oxford, they expected a few challenges as they began settling into their new life.
What they didn’t expect was for their much-loved cat, Zorp, to slip out through the back door and vanish on their very first night in the UK.
After an exhausting three-day journey across continents with their two cats, the family were devastated. In an unfamiliar country, with no local network and no idea where Zorp might have gone, the situation felt overwhelming.
In their worry, they reached out to RSPCA Oxfordshire for help. Linda from our team, quickly stepped in. She travelled a considerable distance to deliver a humane trap and provided practical advice and steady reassurance at a moment when it was needed most. Her calm support helped the family feel less alone in a frightening situation.
For three long days, they waited, watched and hoped. Then, to everyone’s immense relief, Zorp finally reappeared – hungry, tired, but safe. Thanks to persistence, patience and timely support, he was reunited with his family and is now happily settled in his new Oxford home.
He has already discovered one of his favourite activities: watching British garden birds from the window.
Stories like this reflect what we strive to do every day. Whether it’s offering hands-on help, guidance or simply reassurance during a stressful moment, our team is here for local animals and the people who care for them.
