Welcoming Ami to the RSPCA Oxfordshire Team

We’re delighted to introduce Ami Radford, who joined us in February 2026 as our new Animal Welfare and Rehoming Assistant.

As a small, self-funded branch, every member of our team makes a real difference to the animals in our care. With the upcoming merger with RSPCA Reading on the horizon, we know our welfare and rehoming workload is going to grow significantly – more animals to assess, more foster homes to coordinate, and more families to match with the right pet.

Bringing Ami on board means we can give each animal the time and attention they deserve, without stretching our existing team too thin.

Having an extra pair of hands dedicated to welfare and rehoming also means we can respond more quickly to animals in need and keep the rehoming process moving smoothly for adopters.

Anyone who’s been through our adoption process knows the care we take to get the right match – and Ami will play a key role in making sure that continues as we grow.

Ami has wanted to work in animal rescue for as long as she can remember. She grew up surrounded by animals – three huskies, no less – and now has a Labrador called River and a rescue cat named Daisy at home. It was Daisy who really opened her eyes to the difference rescue work makes, and that experience has stayed with her.

She comes to us with a Level 3 Extended Diploma in Animal Care and Management from Berkshire College of Agriculture, where she built a strong foundation in animal health, welfare, and behaviour.

After that, she spent four years working at a kennels, caring for dogs and cats of all shapes and sizes – so she’s well used to the demands of looking after animals with very different needs and personalities.

That combination of formal training and practical, hands-on experience is exactly what we were looking for. It means Ami can hit the ground running at a time when we need it most.

We’re thrilled to have her as part of the team – if you spot a new face at the Rabbit Centre or on the other end of a rehoming enquiry, that’ll be Ami. Please join us in giving her a warm welcome!
