Sansa & Arya – From Abandonment to Loving Homes

In late November, two tiny German Shepherd puppies, Sansa and Arya, were discovered in heartbreaking conditions. At just ten weeks old, they were found abandoned in a filthy crate on a building site, cold, starving, and covered in their own waste. Their mother was with them, also severely underweight and in desperate need of care.

After being rescued, the little family received urgent veterinary attention, a much-needed meal, and a thorough clean-up. While mum required specialised care at an RSPCA rescue centre, Sansa and Arya were placed in a foster home to begin their recovery.

Despite their ordeal, the pups showed remarkable resilience. They were friendly, curious, and full of energy, with healthy appetites. For the first week, they were inseparable—where Sansa went, Arya followed. If one received a cuddle, the other was right there, eager for the same affection. They ate together, explored the garden side by side, and always slept curled up together.

As their confidence grew, so did their independence. They began enjoying individual attention while still relishing their playful games of tug and chase. Over the course of five weeks in foster care, they thrived—growing from just three kilos to nearly ten. They started basic training, received plenty of socialisation with people and other dogs, and became well-prepared for their forever homes.

Once fully vaccinated and given a clean bill of health, Sansa and Arya were listed for adoption. Unsurprisingly, they captured many hearts, and we were able to find them both wonderful, loving families. Today, they are living their best lives, surrounded by warmth and care.

Their new families have stayed in touch, sharing updates on their progress, and it’s an absolute joy to see them flourishing after such a difficult start in life. From abandonment to being cherished members of their new homes, Sansa and Arya’s story is a testament to the power of rescue, rehabilitation, and love.
