Running the Abingdon Marathon for RSPCA Oxfordshire

On Sunday 19 October 2025, three dedicated supporters will take on the Abingdon Marathon – each running 26.2 miles to raise vital funds for RSPCA Oxfordshire.

Meet our amazing runners and their fundraising stories.

Daniel Groves – first-time marathon runner

For Daniel, this will be his first ever marathon. Having grown up surrounded by dogs and other animals, he’s always understood the importance of kindness, care and respect for animals. Running for RSPCA Oxfordshire feels like the perfect way to combine a personal challenge with a cause close to his heart.

“I grew up in a household alongside dogs as well as other animals and it has taught me how important it is to treat and help our pets and other animals alike in today’s world. I’m incredibly honoured to be running for the charity which helps change and improve the lives of animals all over the county and the UK.”

Hayley Greenfield – inspired by her dog

For Hayley, running the Abingdon Marathon is about more than just the physical challenge – it’s about giving something back in honour of the animals who mean the most to her. Her own dog has been a constant source of love, joy and companionship, and she wants every animal to have the chance of a safe and happy life.

“My dog has brought so much happiness into my life, and I know how important it is that all animals get the care and love they deserve. Running my first marathon for RSPCA Oxfordshire feels incredibly special. Any donations to this charity will be greatly appreciated by myself and the RSPCA.”

Teddy Trenowden – back for another challenge

Teddy’s running story began with the Oxford Half-Marathon in 2023, where he supported RSPCA Oxfordshire for the first time. Since then, he’s pushed himself further by completing the Barrow and Downs Marathon in Salisbury, and now he’s taking on Abingdon for us.

“This year, I’m lacing up my running shoes again, not just for the challenge, but because I believe in the amazing work RSPCA Oxfordshire does for animals who desperately need our help.”

Why their fundraising matters

RSPCA Oxfordshire is a self-funded branch, relying entirely on local donations to carry out our work. Every step Daniel, Hayley and Teddy take will help us to:

  • Rescue animals from neglect and abuse
  • Provide medical care and rehabilitation
  • Rehome animals into loving forever homes
