Rosie Finds Her Forever Family After a Year in Foster Care

When Rosie arrived at RSPCA Oxfordshire in September 2024, she came with a host of health challenges that meant finding her the right home would take time, patience, and a very special family.

Rosie has conditions affecting her spine and hips, requiring ongoing medication and a household that could understand and accommodate her needs. She spent over a year in the care of one of our wonderful foster carers, who gave her the love, stability, and nurturing she needed while waiting for her forever home.

That patience paid off. In December 2025, Rosie found her perfect match – a family who had recently lost their beloved cat Kodak and were ready to open their hearts again to a cat with complex needs.

Her new family told us:

“We knew we wanted to share our home again and have always tried to help cats who have been struggling to find a home or those that have more complex needs.

We were very happy to welcome Rosie and have been pleased with how well she has settled in.”

Despite her spine and hip conditions, Rosie has proven she won’t let anything slow her down. She moves confidently around her new home, discovering sunny spots for snoozes and trotting after her family to see what they’re up to. She’s become a playful character, too – eagerly waiting for a play session after every meal and pouncing on her favourite toys throughout the day.

Her new owners added:

“Rosie is no trouble with her medicine, she takes it easily in her food which she also loves. She was obviously very well cared for in her foster home which has no doubt made it easier for her to trust people and feel like one of the family.”

Rosie’s story is a beautiful reminder of what’s possible when foster carers, adopters, and our team work together. It takes a special person to foster an animal with medical needs for over a year, and an equally special family to offer them a forever home.

We send Rosie and her new family our very best wishes – thank you for giving our special girl the happy ending she deserves.
