Foster an animal
Fosterers play a vital role in giving animals a second chance at life. By providing a temporary home, fosterers help animals recover from neglect, abuse, or injury, giving them the care and stability they need to prepare for a loving, permanent home.
While we work to rehome animals as quickly as possible, some stay with us longer, especially those involved in prosecution cases or those who need a little extra one-on-one attention.
For animals who don’t thrive in a busy shelter environment, foster homes offer a comforting, supportive space where they can heal and grow. Each foster placement not only changes a life but also opens up space in our centers, allowing us to help even more animals in need.
Why Foster with Us?
Fostering an animal is a life-changing experience for both you and the animal in your care.
At RSPCA Oxfordshire, we rely on fosterers to provide temporary homes that give animals the space, stability, and one-on-one attention they need to heal.
Whether they’re recovering from neglect or need a safe place during legal proceedings, foster homes are crucial for helping animals prepare for their forever homes.
How Fostering Helps Animals
Fostering provides animals with the comfort and attention they may have never experienced. Many animals in our care are new to love and affection, and a foster home helps them build confidence, adjust to normal routines, and learn to trust again. For animals who struggle in a shelter environment, a foster family is the first step toward a better future.
Some animals may need extended fostering, especially those involved in legal cases. By fostering, you’re providing them a peaceful space to recover, even if only temporarily.

How Fostering Can Benefit You
Fostering offers a unique opportunity to make a direct impact on an animal’s life.
It’s immensely rewarding to know you’ve helped an animal recover and find happiness with a new family.
Plus, fostering is a wonderful option for people who may not be able to commit to an animal long-term but still want to make a difference.
