Eight tiny kittens, thought to be around eight weeks old, have come into our care following a devastating fire at their previous owner’s home.
The fire left the animals needing oxygen for smoke inhalation.
The kittens are also being treated for cat flu, conjunctivitis and sore, red eyes, believed to have been irritated and damaged by the smoke. For animals this small, that combination is serious. Each one needs daily medication, careful monitoring and a warm, quiet place to recover.
Their previous owner was no longer able to care for them after the fire and made the difficult decision to sign them over to us so they could get the help they so badly needed.
All eight are now with our dedicated foster carers, where they are receiving treatment, medication, warmth, good food and plenty of gentle handling. Despite everything they have been through at such a young age, they are slowly starting to improve.
There is still some healing to do, but thanks to the quick actions of everyone involved and the ongoing commitment of our foster carers, these eight little kittens now have the chance of a happier and healthier future. Once they are well enough, we will begin looking for the right homes for them.

We are a self-funded branch. RSPCA Oxfordshire and Reading receives no money from the national RSPCA, so the vet bills, the medication and the food that these eight kittens need are paid for entirely by local people who choose to support us.
