Charity Shop Assistant Manager (Didcot)

Part-time, around 21 hours per week – minimum wage £12.71 PH

Closing date: Friday 24th July 2026

Our charity shop in the heart of Didcot is looking for an Assistant Manager to support the Shop Manager in the smooth running of our first shop. You’ll help lead a small team of staff and volunteers, develop your leadership skills, maximise revenue, and improve animal welfare.

RSPCA Oxfordshire and Reading is a self-funded branch, so the money raised in our shop goes directly towards helping animals in our local area.

About the shop

Our shop plays an essential role in raising both funds and the profile of the RSPCA in the local community. We sell a mixture of donated items, including clothes, books, bric-a-brac and collectables, alongside a selection of new goods.

What you’ll be doing

Supporting the Shop Manager to:

  • Recruit, train and manage shop volunteers and encourage team building
  • Motivate the volunteer team to keep the shop clean and attractive
  • Maintain attractive and themed window displays
  • Ensure sufficient stock generation by encouraging donations
  • Manage stock to maximise profit from donated goods
  • Conduct a monthly stock check of bought-in goods such as RSPCA giftware and pet accessories
  • Assist with shop administration and maintaining an accurate account of the shop’s financial position

What we’re looking for

  • Experience of, or a genuine interest in, retail
  • A friendly, cheerful and approachable manner
  • Experience of building and leading teams
  • Availability for around 21 hours per week
  • Aged 18 or over

What you’ll get in return

  • The chance to make a real difference to animal welfare in your area
  • A welcoming team where you’ll meet new people
  • A comprehensive induction and training programme
  • Valuable leadership experience to add to your CV
